Composite Trimmer

We design, engineer and manufacture advanced composite structural components and assemblies for the aerospace, rail and defence industries. We currently have opportunities for experienced Composite Trimmers to join our Production teams at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset.

Quality is paramount in our business, so you must be reliable and conscientious, and follow work instructions accurately in order to produce consistently high quality work. At the same time, you must demonstrate the experience and confidence to be able to challenge processes, work instructions and methods where appropriate, and work closely with out Engineers to help continuously improve the manufacture of our product. Experience of working within aerospace or composites manufacturing is key for this role. Please see below for more information about what we are looking for.

The work involves a reasonable level of manual handling activity working in a factory environment and there may be a requirement to work shifts, including late or night shifts.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include to:

  1. trim, assemble and fit parts for a range of aircraft and non-aircraft main and sub-assemblies (non-jig and jig controlled) in accordance with work instructions, including Manufacturing Instruction Specifications (MIS) and Engineering Drawings
  2. maintain tooling and report any defects
  3. continuously check for any component defects, escalate these and participate in root cause analysis/resolution activities as needed
  4. complete accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken and keep the relevant documentation with the part to maintain product integrity and traceability of the part
  5. maintain the work environment in line with Health and Safety regulations and good housekeeping standards
  6. support advise and train colleagues and apprentices
  7. work in line with Company values, processes, policies and procedures

The Person

You will have:

  1. manufacturing/trimming experience and the ability to read engineering drawings
  2. a diligent and productive work etic
  3. strong practical skills with a high level on manual dexterity
  4. the capability to foresee or spot problems quickly and contribute to resolving them
  5. excellent concentration levels and attention to detail
  6. the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records
  7. a safety-conscious approach to work
  8. a high level of reliability, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  9. a continuous improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind set
  10. a strong team player approach with a flexible attitude to work load; able and willing to work shifts if required.

Please note there may be a requirement to work shifts, including night shifts on a temporary or permanent basis. There will also be a requirement to work overtime. The standard 'day shift' weekly pattern is as follows:

  • Monday - Thursday 7am - 3.30pm
  • Friday 7am - 1pm
