Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are a market leader specialising in advanced materials technology for sea and land systems. The facility's technologies enhance the performance of vital defence systems, communications networks, and transport equipment worldwide.

We are seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to take responsibility for and carry out day to day and long term mechanical and electrical maintenance requirements at our Portland site and at customer sites. This is a very hands-on role working in dockyard environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 - Complete planned, preventative and corrective mechanical and electrical maintenance duties on machinery and tooling

 - Use technical skills and expertise to resolve machinery/tooling-related problems in a practical, effective and timely manner

 - Provide advice, improvement ideas and solutions to the management team and colleagues about electrical/mechanical requirement and maintenance

 - Provide support and advice to ongoing site continuous improvement projects

 - Maintain relevant and accurate records as needed

 - Promote a preventative maintenance culture

 - Maintain the work environment to the agreed standard in line with Health and Safety regulations

 - General site maintenance and repairs as appropriate, i.e. fixtures and fittings, general equipment

 - Support of manufacturing and process activities including set up and tear down as required

 - Undertake training as required to ensure knowledge and skills are up to date

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 - Relevant mechanical/electrical qualification, i.e. Electrical Qualification – 17th edition, IEE regs, City & Guilds 2382;and proven working experience in an electrical/ mechanical maintenance role or car mechanic background.

 - Working knowledge of motors and gearboxes.

 - Excellent practical and technical skills with a high level of manual dexterity.

 - The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records.

 - A safety-conscious approach to work.

 - Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

 - Able to problem-solve, work efficiently to meet deadlines and manage a range of work priorities.

 - Flexible approach to workload; able to work outside of normal hours and at customer sites/dockyards if required.

 - Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mindset.

 - A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load.
