This position Maintains FAIRs by supporting FAI Inspectors in an administrative capacity and reviews FAIRs from in-process production and finished products. Records all quality results and supports the FAI Inspector according to the need of the FAI process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS    

  • Mechanical print reading skills. 
  • Experience in an AS9102, TS16949, ISO9001, or ISO13485 certified manufacturing facility. 
  • Familiarity with process capability calculations and SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts. 
  • Assists in locating an obtaining layout inspection media & blueprint.
  • Knowledge of Inspection Xpert/Net-Inspect a plus. Documents inspection results by summarizing re-work and waste and inputting data into quality database.
  • Working from purchase orders, special process certifications, operation sheets, blueprints, and other specifications, insure that all parts and materials are in full compliance.
  • Serves as Point of Contact for all in-house inquiries as to FAI status.
  • Coordinates any measurement equipment repair or calibration need with the inhouse Metrology Technician.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Analyzing Information, Manufacturing Methods & Procedures and GD&T knowledge
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, analytical and shop math skills, as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, especially with Excel.
  • Provide support to Change Management and MRB programs as needed. 
  • Performs FAI (First Article Inspection) on initial production of new parts per the applicable customer requirements. 
  • Assembles all necessary inspection documents to accompany shipments. 
  • Archives inspection records in the appropriate storage locations (both electronic and hard copy). 
  • Identify improvements to processes to enhance quality, reduce cost, and increase productivity. 
  • Select and use the appropriate handheld gage to perform inspection of certain part features. 
  • Maintain part and lot traceability information throughout the inspection process. 
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in-group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. 
  • Strong sense of organization, attention to detail, and a natural drive to self-check one’s own work for accuracy. 
  • Ability to balance competing demands while accurately completing tasks in a timely manner. This includes maintaining a resilient disposition when adapting to occasional interruptions and changes, delays, and unexpected events. 
  • Ability to make unbiased, data-driven decisions.  

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Technical certificate in related field required, Associate degree preferred. One or more relevant certifications awarded by a professional organization. For example: 

  • Certified Quality Inspector 
  • Certified Quality Technician 
  • Certified Calibration Technician 
  • Lean Certification 

Must have a minimum of 5+ years' recent experience in a position requiring the same or similar tasks in a manufacturing – aerospace environment. Must have excellent computer skills. Manufacturing, Government Contracting, Aviation and/or Defense Industry experience a plus.
