IT Technician

We are a market leader in Aerospace Composites manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an IT Technician to join our team based in Crewkerne, Somerset and to support a further site at Portland, Dorset.

The role will report to the Senior IT Technican and will provide desktop IT and hardware support service for both Crewkerne and Portland employees; ensuring minimal disruption to business processes, demonstrating a customer focused attitude, and delivery of agreed business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior IT Technician with the upkeep of all network infrastructure ensuring minimal down-time, including any maintenance of software or hardware as required, including Wireless, Firewall, Anti-Spam, Proxy, DNS, DHCP, VLAN Services, Networks and other relevant internal systems, ensuring network access and connectivity across the business at all times
  • Provide 1st line support on the IT Helpdesk responding including to all raised ticket requests such as e-mail and password resets in a timely manner
  • Support the maintenance/up-date of policies and procedures, maintaining and up-dating security software, escalating any IT security threats appropriately to relevant parties, i.e. Senior IT Technician, internal team, external IT support service providers
  • Maintain inventory logs of all IT equipment issued and returned as required to employees / contractors
  • Ensure the inventory of all IT equipment is kept up-to-date including ensuring any waste is managed in accordance with the WEE Regulations
  • Ensure inventory log of Capex expenditure, planning etc is kept maintained and accurate for escalation to Senior IT Technician
  • Ensure licence approval registers/logs for Tods Aerospace and Tods Defence are regularly up-dated and accurate as required
  • Work with the Senior IT Technician to source cost effective and efficient IT services on a continual basis
  • Support with the maintenance of servers including completing regular service checks of all equipment as required to ensure diagnostics are fully operational to support the business needs
  • Install and maintain IT equipment including but not restricted to Laptops, PCs, telecoms, printers and scanners
  • Strip and build PCs / Laptops as required
  • Conduct mobile phone patch up-grades as required
  • Support with the maintenance of hardware/software for the door access card entry systems, coordinating planned and unplanned maintenance as required
  • Travel to Portland location as required to provide IT Support services

We are seeking someone with the following skills/experience:

  • Wide knowledge of operating systems, computer hardware, software and networks
  • Ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Driving licence and own vehicle due to requirements to travel to Portland as required
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • A good team player with a flexible attitude to workload
  • Aptitude for continuous learning and innovative thinking
  • Out of hours work required as the needs of the business dictate

Due to the dual location of the role, being based within a commutable distance of both Crewkerne and Portland would be advantageous. The successful candidate must have a full, clean driving licence and acess to their own vehicle. They must also be able to live and work in the UK without restrictions and meet government security vetting criteria.
