Metrology Engineer

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced Metrology Engineer to join our Quality team at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role will support the Quality Manager with ensuring that all Company and Personal Calibrated Equipment is maintained in accordance with Company, Customer, and Regulatory requirements; in support of ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP AC7114 and NADCAP AC7118 Company Approvals.

We are seeking a candidate who can also act as the primary operator of the Faro Arm Measuring Equipment; coordinating and completing CMM activities on a wide range of parts and sub-assemblies.

This role follows a day shift pattern and the flexibility to do overtime (including weekends if needed) is critical.

The role

  • Manage the Calibration Register; ensuring the calibration status of all Company & Personal Equipment is accurately recorded.
  • Manage the Calibration Recall Process; coordinating monthly collections/deliveries of calibrated equipment with the Calibration Service Provider.
  • Perform corrective actions to address identified measurement problems.
  • Perform Goods Inwards Receipt Inspection, Stage Inspection, and Final Inspection operations as required; in support of production schedules.

The person

  • Trained Faro Arm Operator.
  • Experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System requirements preferably in an aerospace or an automotive environment.
  • Experience with managing a Calibration Control System.
  • NADCAP Composites experience/awareness (AC7118).
  • Ability to communicate assertively, effectively and professionally at all levels with internal & external contacts; demonstrating strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly accurate, strong attention to detail and methodical approach; able to write thorough and clear reports.
  • Proficient in developing successful, productive working relationships with internal colleagues and external parties; working on own initiative, as part of a team and in liaison with other teams.
  • Ability to interpret Customer specifications.
  • Must be results-driven and have the ability to manage multiple priorities, working to tight deadlines.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills; able to prioritise and effectively manage a varied workload.
  • Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind-set.
  • Computer literate, Windows based.
  • A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load.
