Operations Delivery Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this role is responsible for the manufacture and delivery of all Tods Defence products on time, to quality and regulatory requirements.

The role involves management of a team of production operatives in the Portland factory and also of site teams working in the UK and worldwide. Production activities cover a wide range of composite materials, including glass and carbon fibre resin systems, polyurethanes and all associated pattern and mould making

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality

  • Ensuring delivery dates and budgets are maintained
  • Planning and organising production schedules
  • Assessing project and resource requirements
  • Daily management of staff and team leaders
  • Reporting Key performance Indicators to Board of Directors
  • Ensuring that health and safety regulations are met
  • Ensuring all quality control standards are met.
  • Overseeing production processes
  • Re-planning timescales or schedules as necessary to meet forecast.
  • Liaising with buyers and marketing and sales staff
  • Supervising the work of junior staff
  • Organising relevant training sessions

Cost

  • Plan and control appropriately to ensure daily output is achieved.
  • Maintain and improve levels of productivity in accordance with agreed targets.
  • Ensure agreed cost aspects of the area are kept within agreed budget.

Delivery

  • Plan and Drive to meet the business’s delivery goal.
  • Ensure your team understands production schedule expectations.
  • Effectively deploy the team to achieve schedule and production targets on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that health and safety regulations are met
  • Own the escalation of issues, and co-ordinate with others to ensure they are resolved.
  • Respond to customer queries as required and provide status on production and deliveries

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience of composites manufacture and responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Thorough Knowledge of production materials and processes.
  • Good understanding of relevant company policies and procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good level of numerical and analytical ability.
  • Motivate, involve and engage team members to deliver departmental objectives.
  • Encourages team working and leads by example
  • Experience of trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Must be reliable, able to use own initiative and tolerate stressful situations.
  • Must be capable of managing information, organising and planning with an attention to detail.
