Production Operative - Paint

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced Paint Sprayer to join our busy Production department.

This role will be responsible for the preparation of composite and metallic assemblies and application of paint finishes to products in line with the manufacturing instruction sheets in the most economic manner to meet team targets of 100% delivery and quality.

A brief outline of the responsibilities of the role is as follows:

  • Follow MIS / appropriate work instruction to standard
  • Set up, clean and maintain equipment
  • Mixing of paint in accordance with specification
  • Prepare surfaces to Grade 1 or 2 finish: sanding and use of DA, mix and apply filler
  • Follow, process and complete all Manufacturing Instruction Sheet documentation as required. Keep accurate and up to date records of work undertaken and keep the relevant documentation with the part to maintain product integrity and traceability of the part.
  • Train and mentor colleagues and apprentices.
  • Maintain the work environment to the agreed standard in line with Health and Safety regulations and 5S (housekeeping) standards
  • Work in accordance with Company values, processes, policies and procedures

Personal requirements:

  • Paint prep/finish experience in an Aerospace environment
  • Diligent and productive work ethic
  • Strong practical skills with a good level of manual dexterity
  • The capacity to carry out repetitive tasks methodically and to a consistently high standard of quality
  • Excellent concentration levels and attention to detail
  • The capability to foresee or spot problems quickly and contribute to resolving them
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records
  • A safety-conscious approach to work
  • Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mindset
  • A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load; able and willing to work shifts if required
