Unitech Composites Celebrates Collins Elbit Vision Systems’ 1,000th Delivery of F-35 Helmet Mounted Display System

HAYDEN, IDAHO, March 20, 2019 – Unitech Composites, a Unitech Aerospace company and leading supplier of complex laminates and panels for the aerospace and defense industry, is celebrating Collins Elbit Vision System’s 1,000th delivery of the F-35 Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) System. Unitech Composites produces the Binocular Optical Support Structure (BOSS) section on the revolutionary HMD system. The BOSS section of the helmet is a high-precision composite structure that must comply to incredibly tight tolerances.

“Since 2009, the BOSS has been one of Unitech’s flagship programs and our team is extremely proud to support of the state-of-the-art F-35 program and the warfighter,” said Joyce Hagues, Vice President and General Manager of Unitech Composites. “Our performance in quality and delivery is stronger than ever and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the HMD system’s success with future milestone deliveries.”

The award-winning F-35 HMD system projects airspeed, heading, altitude, integrated night vision and targeting information directly onto the helmet’s visor giving pilots unprecedented situational awareness and increasing overall mission effectiveness.

Unitech Composites currently produces three variants of the BOSS (Gen3, Gen3 Lite and SIM BOSS) for Collins Aerospace and has produced over 1,000 units to date.
